    How it works

    How to sell NEAR Protocol

Selling NEAR Protocol with Anytime Capital takes only a few minutes:

    1. Enter the amount of NEAR Protocol you want to sell.
    2. Choose how you want to be paid — bank transfer, debit card, or one of the other payout methods.
    3. If your NEAR is staked, unstake it first — the balance becomes withdrawable after a few epochs, usually around two days.
    4. Send your NEAR to the address shown, then complete verification if you have not already.
    5. Receive your money.

Two kinds of NEAR address, and they look nothing alike

NEAR is one of the few chains with human-readable account names. An account can be something like yourname.near, or it can be an implicit account: a sixty-four character hexadecimal string with no prefix. Both are valid, both receive NEAR, and a payout screen may show either. The practical consequence is that a NEAR address does not have a recognisable shape the way a Bitcoin or Ethereum address does, so the usual habit of eyeballing the first few characters is less useful. Copy the whole thing, and check the last four characters as well as the first four.

Storage staking keeps part of your balance locked

NEAR charges for the state an account occupies by locking NEAR against it rather than by charging a rent fee. Every account has a small amount tied up this way, and it grows with the data the account stores — tokens you hold, contracts you have interacted with. That locked portion is not sendable, which is why an attempt to sell the exact balance shown can fail. Sell the available amount rather than the total, and expect a small remainder to stay behind for as long as the account exists.

    Unstaking takes a few epochs

NEAR epochs run about twelve hours, and unstaking completes after a few of them — in practice roughly two days from when you start. During that window the NEAR is neither earning nor sendable. As with every staked asset, begin the unstake before you take a price: two days is long enough for the market to be somewhere else by the time the coins are free.

Sharding, and what it means in practice

NEAR launched in 2020 and splits its state across shards, adding capacity as demand grows rather than competing for one shared block space. For a user the visible result is that fees stay under a cent and confirmation stays under a minute even during busy periods — the network does not have the congestion spikes that make fees unpredictable elsewhere. NEAR is also used to pay for the storage described above and to stake with validators, so a meaningful share of supply is committed rather than liquid at any time.

How long does it take to send NEAR to us?

NEAR Protocol settles on NEAR, where a transfer typically confirms in under 1 minute. NEAR produces a block roughly every 1.3 seconds and reaches finality in about 2–3 seconds. Transfers of NEAR or its stablecoins land effectively instantly; exchange crediting adds the only real wait. We start your payout once the transfer has confirmed on-chain, so this is the part of a sale you are usually waiting on.

What does it cost to send NEAR?

That is a NEAR network fee, paid to the network rather than to us: Typically under $0.01 per transaction in 2025–2026 — NEAR's fee design keeps costs at fractions of a cent. See /fees-and-limits for what Anytime Capital charges.

What do NEAR addresses look like?

Named account: yourname.near. Human-readable account names are native to NEAR — no separate naming service needed Check the first and last characters against the address on the payout screen before you send — a NEAR transfer cannot be reversed once it is confirmed.
