You do not need to unstake ADA before selling it

This is the genuinely unusual thing about Cardano, and it catches people out in the good direction. Delegating ADA to a stake pool never moves the coins out of your wallet: they stay under your keys, remain spendable at any moment, and there is no bonding period, no unbonding queue and no slashing. You can sell delegated ADA right now, without a withdrawal request and without waiting an epoch. Compare that with Polkadot's twenty-eight days or Cosmos's twenty-one and it is a real difference in how quickly you can act.

The min-ADA rule, and why you cannot empty a wallet exactly

Cardano requires every unspent output to carry a minimum amount of ADA, scaled to how much data it holds. In practice that means a wallet holding native tokens alongside ADA has some ADA locked up as the minimum for those token outputs, and it cannot be spent while the tokens are there. If you are trying to sell your whole balance and the wallet refuses, this is usually why — either send the native tokens somewhere first, or accept that a small amount of ADA stays behind with them.

Fees are set by formula, not by an auction

A Cardano transaction fee is calculated from a fixed constant plus a per-byte charge, which comes to roughly 0.17 to 0.2 ADA for a standard transfer. Because it is a formula rather than a bidding market, it does not spike when the network is busy — the cost of your sale is the same at three in the morning as during a rally. What varies is the fiat value of that fee as ADA's price moves. Blocks are produced roughly every twenty seconds on average, and transfers typically confirm within a few minutes.

What Cardano is trying to be

Cardano launched in 2017 and runs Ouroboros, a proof-of-stake protocol developed through peer-reviewed academic research — an approach that has made the project slower to ship than most and is the reason its roadmap is discussed in named eras rather than releases. Smart contracts arrived with the Alonzo upgrade in 2021, and governance moved on-chain with Voltaire, which lets ADA holders vote on protocol decisions and treasury spending directly. Whether that deliberateness is a feature is the argument that follows Cardano everywhere; either way, the network has run without an outage since launch.

How long does it take to send ADA to us?

Cardano settles on Cardano, where a transfer typically confirms in 2–10 minutes. Cardano produces a block about every 20 seconds, and platforms typically credit ADA deposits after 5–15 confirmations — a few minutes in practice. Fees follow a published formula and land around 0.17–0.2 ADA per simple transfer, regardless of congestion. We start your payout once the transfer has confirmed on-chain, so this is the part of a sale you are usually waiting on.

What does it cost to send ADA?

That is a Cardano network fee, paid to the network rather than to us: About 0.17–0.2 ADA per standard transaction — a formula-set fee, so it doesn't spike with demand (fiat value tracks ADA's price). See /fees-and-limits for what Anytime Capital charges.

What do ADA addresses look like?

Shelley address: Starts with addr1 (long, ~100 characters). The modern standard — long addresses are normal on Cardano Check the first and last characters against the address on the payout screen before you send — a Cardano transfer cannot be reversed once it is confirmed.
